About Dawson County

Although included in the Atlanta MSA, according to the 2010 Census the city of Dawsonville has a population of 2536 residents and, in 2011, the Dawson county population estimate was 22,459.  However, including the surrounding counties of Cherokee, Fanin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Hall, Lumpkin, and Pickens, the labor force swells to 352K plus add that of nearby North Atlanta. When considering the radius population, there are 224,540 people within 15 miles, 1,203,636 within 30 miles and 5,006,598 within 50 miles.  
 
Local activities span golfing to secluded mountain hiking or exciting white watering and exceptional Premium Outlet shopping.  Seasonal activities include fairs and festivals plus the credible summer or winter diversions at Lake Lanier and Atlanta’s professional sports. Combine the Atlanta amenities of major touring performance concerts and theater, museums, the zoo, international airport, fine dining and the possibilities are endless.
